2007 Recap

With pitchers and catchers reporting to Spring Training in less than two weeks, I thought that I would give a recap of the glorious moments of my 2007 Championship run.

Jimmy Rollins - NL MVP award
Rollins became the second player in MLB history to have 20 singles, 20 doubles, 20 triples, and 20 homeruns in one season. This feat was done by Curtis Gunderson of the Detriot Tigers this season too. What was more impressive was that Rollins was able to pull away with the MVP award for the National League. Rollins ended the season with 30 homeruns, 41 stolen bases, and 94 rbi's, and 139 runs. He batted .290 and had an .822 OPS.

Jake Peavy - CY Young award
Jake pitched like no other during the 2007 season. Peavy was unhittable on the road, posting a 10 and 1 record with a 2.57 era. Jake was an unanimous pick for the 2007 CY Young. Peavy had 35 strikeouts in 22+ innings.

Ryan Braun - ROY award
Ryan was a bargain at $1 during draft day. Many wanted him and my ultimate sleeper going into the draft go handed to me without many objections. I knew that Ryan would be a midseason callup but did I believe that he would perform the way that he did? Definitely not! He ended up with 34 homeruns, 97 Rbi's, 91runs and 15 stolen bases. He did all of this while hitting .324 and posting a 1.004 OPS.

Barry Bonds - All-Time Homerun King
Barry hit 28 homeruns this season giving him 766 for his career. I was at work when the feat happened but when I got home I was able to witness the feat over and over again. I got teary eyed.
