Plea for Ryan Braun

Check out these stats for the Brewers third basemen. Makes you wonder why they haven't brought up Braun yet. I know one of the major factors is that they are winning and they don't want to mess with the team chemistry but the guy is proving nothing being in the minors. They should at least give him a shot to see how he does. His throwing ability seems to be a concern obviously, he has only committed two errors in Nashville though. I am not sure how many Counsell and Graffanino have made though.

Craig Counsell and Tony Graffanino manned third base for Milwaukee in April and combined at that position for a .595 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS), a widely used measure of production. That was good for 25th of the 30 teams, ahead of the Indians, Tigers, Dodgers, Angels and Padres.

Brewers third basemen ranked 20th with 10 RBIs, 23rd with a .224 batting average, 29th with 24 total bases and last with five runs scored. The Brewers were one of six Major League teams with no home runs from a third baseman, a distinction they relinquished Tuesday when Graffanino slugged a three-run homer in a rout of the Cardinals.

Manager Ned Yost has said that Braun would have been the team's Opening Day third baseman had he played better defense in Spring Training. Braun batted .304 in April with seven home runs and 15 RBIs for Triple-A Nashville, and he began May with a 4-for-6 night that included his team-best 10th double.
