Injury Update

Here is some new information regarding some of my injured players.

Cody Ross - OF (Florida)
Cody Ross said Tuesday that he hopes to be ready to play when the Marlins return from their 10-day road trip on June 8.

Ross has been sidelined since suffering a strained hamstring on May 5.

Josh Johnson - SP (Florida)
Josh Johnson, making his way back from an elbow injury, threw 62 pitches in an extended spring training game on Tuesday.

Johnson allowed just one hit and touched 94 mph on the gun, though he averaged closer to 90 mph. He'll make the first of at least two rehab starts Sunday for Single-A Jupiter.

Jose Valentin - 2B (New York Mets)
Jose Valentin (ACL tear) has been running and hitting and could be back within 10 days. (May 26th)

Damion Easley has done a good job filling in for Valentin since he went down last month. He's got a hit in seven of his past eight starts. Valentin will return to his role as the starting second baseman, pushing Easley to the bench.

Update: 5/30
Jose Valentin (ACL tear) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday.

"He's going to go out and play games, and I'm guessing somewhere within a week's time, he should be back with the club," general manager Omar Minaya said. "He's on his way to Florida now."

Update: 5/31
Jose Valentin (ACL tear) went 3-for-5 with a walk during an extended spring training game on Wednesday.

Valentin should return to the Mets in less than a week.
