I was able to get two free agents this past week. I picked up Jorge Sosa, SP Mets, and Yorvit Torrealba, C Rockies.
Sosa has had some great starts to the season and with the recent demotion of Mike Pelfrey. Sosa has pitched in three games so far and has 3 wins, while striking out 12. He has a 2.25 ERA and a 0.85 Whip.
Yorkit gives some added regularity to my lineup. I also have his counter part in Chris Iannetta. It should lead to constant production out of that position were before I was seeing limited production when Iannetta would be benched in favor of Yorkit and also when Chris Snyder was benched too. Seeing zeros out of my catchers was pathetic. At least now I will have stats from from either of them each night. Hopefully this move will pay off in the long run. There isn't/wasn't much help in the catching position available on the Free Agency list.
To get both players, I ended up dropping Roger Clemens and Chris Snyder. Roger is now with the Yankees, and Snyder wasn't seeing much time so he was the wise choice there. I missed out on picking up Aaron Boone to the Beaners. We both put in the same bid but since Jim held the tie breaker, he won him. Best of luck with Boone!
