So I have been thinking a lot about guys that I missed out on, either through the draft or through FA pickups. Here are a list of some of my frustrations.
Draft Day Frustrations
Kelly Johnson - Jason was wondering why I was bidding him up on this guy and I told him that I liked the guy because his name was Kelly, Jason reminded me that his name wasn't spelled like mine and that is when I decided to stop bidding on him. He went to Jason for $8. Could I have gone any higher, I don't remember but everyday that Johnson does something great I hate myself for not getting him. This is what Kelly has done so far. 5 Hr's, 17 Rbi's, 27 R's, .303 Avg, .982 OPS.
Josh Hamilton - I loved his story of how he had battled back from his drug addiction to make it on the opening day roster for the Reds. I could relate to his trials and tribulations and thought that he would be a great morale booster for my team even if he didn't play much. I had all the intentions of drafting Hamilton during the draft but when I loaded up early in the Outfield, I regretfully pushed him to the back of my mind. When the reserve draft came up, I had him written down to take but since I had two pitchers that wouldn't offer me anything for some time (Clemens, Johnson) I decided to load up on pitchers in the reserve. I still had my chance to pick him up during the first free agent call up but I decided to go with Scott Hairston since he was guaranteed to get some at bats while other players on his team where out with injury. It was a no brainer at that time. Week 3 came along and Josh Hamilton was picked up by the Box Chowers. Here are his numbers so far: 8 Hr's, 17 Rbi's, 19 R's, 2 Sb's, .289 Avg, and 1.012 Ops.
FA Frustrations
Nook Logan - When he was picked up in the reserve draft by Brian I was hating myself for not picking him up early. I wanted Hunter Pence and took him with the second overall pick of the reserve draft and then was hoping to nab Logan with my second or third pick but Brian beat me to it. When I saw that he got dropped by Brian and was also hurt, I thought that I could pick him up before he became eligible to come off the DL. Instead I waited to see how he did before I picked him up. I was glad to see that he didn't do anything to bring attention to himself and was hoping to land him for a $2 FA bid. Boy was I wrong, he went for $15 to the Diggleturbs. It would have been a nice addition for my team as he specializes in stealing bases but that is about it.
Clemens Frustrations
Roger Clemens - He wasn't really a frustration but a gamble that I made in hopes that he would land back with the Astros. I would find out earlier this week that he would be headed back to the AL and now he is worthless to me.

I wasn't real sure about Kelly Johnson, but I like his 2B eligibility. Just one of those random guys that you take a chance on and hope you strike gold.
